TAIPEI, Taiwan, Dec 24 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- To encourage young people to have big dreams, GAMANIA CHEER UP FOUNDATION launches “An Expedition In Antarctica” after the completion of the inspiring “Polar Challenge” ten years ago. View the full release here:https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20181221005621/en/ The team is led by Founder Albert Liu of the Foundation, where Ultra-marathon runner Tommy Chen and famous actor CHRIS WANG serve as coach and mentor. The intergenerational and interdisciplinary team also consists of two 20-year-old Big Dream Youth SHERRY LIN and GARY WU. Director YANG Li-chou of the documentary film “Beyond the Arctic” ten years ago also participates in the expedition to document the feat in full. Soon after the start of the march, they were faced with blizzards which caused delays in schedule. In view of various factors such as food supply and weather, they had decided to adjust their plan, and decided to compress the total number of days of the march to 20 days, and abandoned the original 660 km “Coast to Pole Route.” Instead, they switched to the shorter but more challenging “Antarctic Plateau Route." The route is about 350 kilometers. It starts from 87 degrees south of the equator and 2545 meters above sea level. They may encounter a polar vortex along the way. In addition to the thinner air and more unstable oxygen supply, the wind and temperature are challenging due to high altitude. Although the members are at 2545 meters above sea level, the physical sensation is equivalent to height of 4000–5000 meters. mrem.bernama.com/viewsm.php?idm=33519
